A little less than a year after my energy practice became my full-time work, I felt I had hit a wall.
I had reached the number of clients per week I wanted. I had my space in a nice clinic. I was doing volunteer work that was very aligned with my goals, and I had a few partnerships helping me get new clients.
But I was feeling lost and flat.
Even though I was doing all the right things, or what I knew to be the right things, I wasn’t expanding beyond where I was. I didn’t even have the idea of what expansion would mean to me.
I was working with a mentor at the time, and my questions were all about my business. From my conscious mind’s perspective, my life was good.
The problem, as I saw it, was the wall I had hit in my business.
But everything is connected. And at that time, I didn’t know how much everything is truly connected.
My mentor was able to pull from me my dissatisfaction with living in such a cold place (Montreal). The long winters and lack of light weren’t serving me anymore.
Maybe one day I can get into more details, but that day I received guidance — my inner guidance was very, very clear about moving to Costa Rica.
A place I had never been before. A place that wasn’t even on my list of next places to go. I’m a traveler. My list of places to visit is long, and my list of places I’ve already been is also pretty decent.
And yet Costa Rica was on neither.
Why am I telling you this story?
Because after grieving Canada for a few days, I got so excited about Costa Rica — the sun, the fresh air, the Spanish language, the different food, the new culture. The schools there were so exciting for what I was trying to create for my daughter.
I immersed myself in falling in love with life again in a way I had lost touch with for some time.
The result?
My business started to grow again. I got new clients, new invitations, inspiring new ideas. Everything felt like it was flowing again.
Did I stay in Canada? No. Was the business growing a sign to stay? No. It was a sign that my energy was aligned with my desire, and when your energy moves, everything around you starts to move with it.
The move did happen later that year, but that’s not the lesson.
The point was that I allowed myself to let the desire and excitement of living under the sun, in nature, actually exist inside me.
It was so powerful to dream about moving to Costa Rica that I shifted my entire energy just by allowing myself to think about the possibility.
I hold this story very close to my heart. Energy shift is real, and it brings more results than we can ever imagine.
Living in Costa Rica sounds amazing… and yes, it is.
But you don’t need to make that kind of shift in your life to raise your energy (maybe you do… but let’s hold that for now)… What you do need is to listen closely to your heart and find what expands you, find a direction that excites you.
You need to remember that it is safe to desire fun things.
It is safe to dare.
It is safe to think about things other people might call crazy.
If you are feeling flat, discouraged, with a lack of aliveness, you need to find a desire.
People often say that desire is from the ego, and there is this type of desire too, but I am talking about the desire that brings you back to engage with life in a joyful way — this is coming from your soul.
Your aliveness benefits the planet. It’s not your ego; it’s your soul talking to you. That’s why it feels scary.
Maybe you don’t need to take action right away, but you do need to reassess what an awesome life looks like to you.
And that alone will start to bring results in your business and your projects.
When I felt the feeling that the idea of moving to Costa Rica brought into my body, I started practicing it… on walks in nature, on my mat, in the car. I didn’t let my current reality bring me down. I used my desire to fuel my present.
I didn’t move to Costa Rica until the end of that year, but the point is that I was feeling alive in my body again while I was still in Canada.
I was present to my life again.
It can sound contradictory, but that desire made my current life more fun. I made new friends. My business was growing. I was feeling alive.
I wasn’t sure how it would all play out… would it even work?
But I cultivated aliveness, vitality, curiosity, and excitement in most of my days. Not only did I start making more money, life became an adventure again.
Adventure doesn’t live on autopilot. It lives in the unknown. It invites us to be creators again.
This is not about living in the future. This is about being fully present while allowing your vision — your exciting vision — to exist.
Little by little, every piece fell into place to make my move happen. But the golden intersection I learned was this: being deeply grateful for where I was, while being extremely excited about where I was headed.
I find myself in that intersection again right now. I know why I am where I am, and I am deeply grateful for it.
But I am also excited about what I am building and where I am going. Is it scary? Yes. Is it less scary than the first time? Honestly, no. It’s just different.
And that’s life for me… honoring the cycles of creation.
My time in Canada wasn’t bad. In fact, I had an amazing ten years there. But that cycle was over.
We know, but we forget: the only constant is change. So we might as well change for something that truly lights us up.
Having a fun life was never in the books on marketing or business management. But I believe it is one of the greatest strategies for growing a business or even to finally start one.
With Love,
Carolina
