What If You're Not Supposed to Know?
On building a business that loves you back
Sometimes we don’t realize how big our ask is.
8 years ago, if you’d shown me everything I’d go through - the fear, the uncertainty, the parts of myself I’d have to let die, the moments I’d question everything.
I would have said no. I would have crawled under my bed and never come out.
Think about the grace and perfection of life in inviting us into not knowing.
What if not knowing is actually by design? What if the universe only shows you the next step because if you saw the whole staircase, your mind would shut the door immediately?
We think we want to know more.
But this comes from the illusion that we can control how life goes.
And because we can’t, the not knowing becomes a gift. But because it challenges the mind, we don’t receive the gift. Instead, we keep struggling, trying to figure it out.
I’m at a point in my life where “I don’t know” sits with me more often than not.
Making peace with that is my practice.
I remember times when I thought I could see 25 years into the future.
Have you had moments like this too? Planning your whole career? Mapping out what you’d do after retirement?
Now? That feels impossible. And I’m grateful.
What I thought was clarity - that ability to map out my entire life - was just fear of being fully present.
The planning was protection. If I could control the future, I wouldn’t have to surrender to this moment.
We have a process we teach our clients and community where we create a 25-year vision.
But it’s completely different from what I had before.
Before, my vision came from my mind asking: “What can I control? What can I make happen? What’s safe to want?”
Now, my vision comes from my heart asking: “What can I dare to love into existence?”
As I choose to keep opening my heart, my 25-year vision has become a reflection of my ability to dare, to imagine, to fall in love with life itself.
Some things in my current vision? Honestly, I have no idea how they’ll happen.
And that’s the point.
The vision isn’t a plan. It’s a practice.
Every time I write something that seems impossible, every time I imagine something my mind says “that’s too big,” I’m stretching my heart’s capacity to love more.
My mind is learning to play along instead of leading the way.
What I thought was a business strategy - this 25-year vision - turned out to be a heart-opening practice disguised as business planning.
The vision isn’t meant to be achieved. It’s meant to stretch your heart’s capacity. And very interestingly you achieve things,
But for that, we need to sit in the unknown.
“I don’t know” is the most humble prayer.
Sacred business humbles you by constantly showing you: you don’t know as much as you think you do.
And that humility is what makes you teachable.
The entrepreneurs who succeed aren’t the ones who figured it all out. They’re the ones who stayed humble enough to keep learning, open enough to keep receiving, brave enough to keep not knowing.
My sacred business is a constant invitation to live in today. To rest in the breath. To operate from faith and trust instead of control and certainty.
We think we know what we want.
But I think all we want is to love more.
The business isn’t about what you’re building. It’s about who you’re becoming through the practice of loving more.
Sacred Business is the container for asking: what if I structured my whole life around what I love?
Not just doing what you love. But LOVING what you’re doing.
The business gives you 30 to 40 hours a week to practice being in love. With your work. With your clients. With the process. With yourself. With life itself.
You can’t control someone you love.
When you try, it stops being love and becomes possession.
You can’t control your business either.
Same thing.
Not knowing is what allows the business to become what IT wants to become, not just what you think it should be.
Sacred Business is a living thing you’re in relationship with, not a machine you control.
The not knowing is you giving your business permission to surprise you. To become more than you could plan for. To love you back.
This is why October is the month of love in our community.
Not romantic love - the frequency of openness, of being willing to be seen, of practicing receiving.
We’re on the mat, stretching, creating space, putting ourselves in postures where protection isn’t an option. Where our hearts are fully exposed. Where we have to choose - again and again - to stay open instead of closing down.
Because that’s what Sacred Business asks of us every single day.
Every client call. Every piece of content. Every sales conversation. Every moment of visibility. Every time you price your work or ask for the sale or share something vulnerable.
It’s all practice in keeping your heart open.
So I invite you to pause right now. Really pause.
Where do you see love present in your business?
Where are you still closing your heart?
Not because you’re doing something wrong. But because seeing it is the first step to opening.
List the aspects of your business where love flows freely. And then list the ones where you’re protecting yourself. Where you’re trying to control. Where you won’t let yourself not know.
Ask yourself: why am I choosing not to see love here? What am I protecting myself from?
And if you are not in love with your business, you can also ask why not?!
Your business isn’t asking you to figure it out.
It’s asking you to love more.
To trust more.
To stay open more.
To be present more.
The not knowing isn’t a problem to solve. It’s a gift to receive.
And maybe, just maybe, if you let yourself sit in the uncertainty long enough, you’ll discover what I’m discovering:
That the grace of life is in showing you one step at a time. That your heart knows the way even when your mind doesn’t. That Sacred Business isn’t just about building something - it’s about becoming someone who can love at a scale you never thought possible.
And that changes everything.
With Love,
Carolina

Seeing is the first step to opening – I love that line. I love the concept of bringing love into our business. After all, we call it our ‘baby.’ For me, I think there is a hint of self-doubt here and there. It does hold me back and that’s why I am focused on self-belief at the moment. Thank you Carolina, this message comes at the right time for me.💕
"What I thought was clarity was just fear of being fully present." So good. Thank you for this wonderful post!
