099: When the Strategy Meets the Self
The results change the moment you step beyond fear in disguise
What’s the last thing you said no to — not because it was wrong, but because it made you uncomfortable?
Two weeks ago, I almost faced mine. At first, I wanted to say no — but instead, I leaned in and said yes.
We had our first experience running a Sacred Business Auction.
I’ll be honest — when I first heard the idea, I felt a tightening in my throat and an unease ripple through my whole body. The thought of having people bid what they wished or could pay to work with us was so far outside my realm of creativity.
If this had been years ago, I probably would have held tight to that resistance and said no.
But I’m grateful I’ve evolved.
I can see how often we hold strong opinions or resistance toward something that might not even be true.
When I felt the resistance in my body, I paused, took a breath, and asked myself: Is this real? Does my resistance to this sales format actually make sense? The answer came quickly and clearly: no. My discomfort was simply about being seen in a different way — one that felt more exposing to me.
Slowly, that resistance began to soften. The sensation in my throat and my stomach eased, and instead of being something I judged for an unconscious reason, it became just another strategy to explore.
When we started the auction training, the very first instruction was: let your ego aside.
I laughed out loud.
It was exactly my ego that had been trying to protect me — from being judged, from asking for money in a different way, from being seen in a way that felt unfamiliar.
I could almost hear the uninvited thoughts: What will people think?
Reading that ego was the first thing to let go of was a relief.
It reminded me of something I’ve known since day one: Sacred Business Flow has always been an invitation for me to leave my comfort zone. From the beginning, it was clear I couldn’t keep operating in the same relationship to marketing or to the tools that could help me grow my business.
I made a commitment to myself: I am not here to feed my ego. I am here to fulfill my vision.
What stands between you and your successful business is often just the version of you that wants to be right, accepted, and safe.
This auction was another reminder to get out of my own way — and when I did, we had a lot of fun.
There are so many reasons to try an auction, and money isn’t the first one. The insights and growth we experienced in the process were worth even more.
And if money was the only reason? I’d be fine with that too. After all, money is Sacred.
There is something important to be realized here: we all have strategies we secretly judge — not because they’re wrong, but because they trigger our patterns around money or service.
Those same patterns might be the very things keeping you from making more money and helping more people.
It’s wild how we justify playing small — even when we’re tired of it — just so we can avoid the discomfort of moving through resistance.
That’s why, for me, there is no way of doing business that is disconnected from my own growth and evolution.
We often hear people say, I’ve tried it all. I’m tired of marketing courses and tactics.
First, I don’t believe it’s possible to “try it all” in a world of infinite possibilities.
Second, maybe you’ve taken a lot of action without looking within to see who you were being while you took those actions — and that changes everything.
Your Sacred Business isn’t a match for where you are today.
It’s not a box designed to make you comfortable with what you’ve already done. It’s a reflection of your vision. It’s your invitation to evolve and become more of your essence.
When we share a strategic plan with a client, we know we’ve nailed it if they say, Wow, I’m excited… and I’m a little afraid too. That’s exactly how it should feel.
Because if it’s not challenging your current circumstances, it’s probably just feeding your ego — and your need to feel good about where you are now.
So, if something scares you and excites you at the same time, maybe it’s not the wrong strategy. Maybe it’s your next evolution knocking.
