When You Need Your Network's Help (And Why They'll Actually Want to Give It)
How to Ask Your Network for Help Without Making It Weird
Here’s something most people get wrong about asking for help: they think it’s taking something.
But when you ask someone to support your work by sharing it with their network, you’re actually giving them something. You’re letting them be generous. You’re allowing them to be the person who helps someone they care about.
We live in a world that can feel pretty transactional. Everything has a price. Every post needs a conversion. Every connection becomes a potential sale.
And then someone asks for nothing except your willingness to help. No affiliate link. No commission. Just genuine support.
People remember that. They respond to it. Because generosity is rare enough to feel good when you get to practice it.
WHAT YOU’RE ACTUALLY ASKING FOR
You’re not asking your network to sell anything. You’re asking them to share something they believe in with people who might benefit from it.
That’s different.
When you frame it this way, you’re giving people a clear path to support you without making it weird or pushy. You’re saying: “I made something I’m proud of, and if you think it’s valuable, would you tell people about it?”
Most people want to help the people they respect. They just need to know what help looks like.
HOW TO ASK (The Templates)
Here’s what this looks like in practice. You can use these structures and adapt them to your situation:
FOR EMAIL:
Hey [Name],
I’m reaching out because I’m launching [specific offer] and wanted to see if you’d be willing to help me get it in front of more people.
This is a generosity ask, not an affiliate thing. I’m not asking you to sell anything or promote something you don’t believe in.
What I’m offering: [Brief description - one sentence about what it is and who it helps]
If this feels aligned and you think your people would benefit, would you be open to sharing it? I’ve put together some copy you can use if that makes it easier. You can adjust it however you want or ignore it completely.
Either way, I appreciate you. Thanks for even reading this.
[Your name]
FOR CHAT/WHATSAPP:
Hey! Quick ask - I’m launching [specific offer] and would love your help getting it out there
Not an affiliate thing, just a generosity ask. It’s [one sentence about what it is]
If you think your people would benefit, would you be open to sharing? I can send you simple copy to make it easy
No pressure either way. Appreciate you
THE SWIPE COPY YOU SEND THEM
After they say yes (and many will), send them something like this:
Here’s some copy you can adapt:
“A friend of mine just launched [offer name]. It’s [one sentence description]. If you’ve been [specific struggle], this might help. [Link]”
Feel free to make it your own. And seriously, thank you for this.
WHEN PEOPLE WANT TO DO MORE
Here’s what might surprise you: sometimes people will get really excited about supporting you.
They’ll say yes and then ask if they can share it multiple times. Or send a few emails about it. Or post on multiple platforms. They want to go above and beyond.
When this happens (and it will), have a fuller swipe file ready for them. Give them options. Make it easy for them to share in whatever way feels natural.
You can send them something like:
“That’s amazing, thank you! I put together a fuller swipe file with a few different angles and formats. Use whatever resonates with you: [link to swipe file]”
Some people are just waiting for something they believe in enough to put their name behind. When you find those people, give them everything they need to support you well.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Some people will say yes immediately. Some will share it without even responding. Some will say no or not respond at all.
All of that is fine.
You’re not trying to convert your entire network into a sales team. You’re giving people who already respect your work a chance to support it in a simple, low-pressure way.
And here’s what I’ve learned: even in a world that often feels transactional, people still want to be generous. They want to help. They’re just waiting for someone to ask in a way that doesn’t feel manipulative or desperate.
This is that way.
Try it this week. Pick 10-15 people who know your work and genuinely seem to appreciate it. Send them this message. See what happens.
