Thank you for this, Carolina. What a gift you gave to that 12-year-old. What a gift you give to so many. I

t's not an easy road to follow--the one where you finally step off the highway everyone else is on and take a detour down an interesting-to-you dirt road.

How lucky we are to now live in a world where messages like this can be shared with a bigger audience.

That’s true Rebecca! I believe we are in a revolution of authenticity! It lights my heart to see this message being shared by so many in different ways!

CW - I must say I love the message here as we should all be truly loved for being ourselves as we are. High Five 🫶 One small caveat - to convey you are happy she failed all the times she tried to fit in while heartening - you are fine as you are - may, though maybe not, give the unintended message to her - it is okay to stop trying to fit into life in ways that could, at points later on in life, be healthy for her and us adults as well and thus convey she need not try any longer. A delicate balance to say the least for all of us "odd ducks" myself included.

And I hope my caveat does not in any way proffer the very message you are trying to combat and do away with. For if it does, I offer my sincere apologies and listen to your response with, hopefully, open ears and heart.

Having said this, it sounds like you are conveying to this child - who has suffered from societal "demands" that she dress, look, behave and act certain ways to garner acceptance and love - it is good and perfectly fine to be yourself without these outward trappings. This is why this piece made my heart jump for joy.

Thank you for sharing it CW. Well done!

Thank you for this thoughtful reflection!

I agree - it's about finding that sweet balance between embracing who we are, while staying open to growth that truly serves us

Appreciate you guys.

Making me tear up too early in the day with your story!

Weird is unique. Weird is beautiful. The quicker everyone realizes it’s being authentic is the path to a fulfilled life, the quicker we can all start truly living it together!

Normal/average is a way bigger insult than weird 👊🏻
