I am happy to say a single note contributed to almost 200 new subscribers. Because I didn't force myself to sit and ambitiously reply to each one until I was burnt out, the flow continued. Thanks for sharing my experience here in your article. Being awake and aware of how we honor our energy is the most effective manifestation method anyone could implement. It's not hard; it's a matter of doing things differently than you have in the past. And for me, that is pushing through because I am hyper-focused and determined to get it done, even as I burn out.

it was an interesting interview to watch

yes! What caught your attention the most, or had you thinking?

Thanks for writing this, Phil. I got to watch 2 titans in their spaces talking one on one without the usual theatrics.

I relate a lot with Alex experience cause I've been there. Particularly my 2022-2023 self.

I just did work online cause it's what I know how to do best, instead of anything else. I quit my job and "burned the boats", I eschewed happiness as a goal cause I much prefer fulfillment.

I was introduced to the "push & pull" concept as extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. And my indirect mentor said that having a vision is what enables that intrinsic one. It has to be so compelling that I can't help but keep going not cause I'm forcing to do it but cause I want to see it become a reality.

And after I was able to positively impact the life of 2-3 people personally, I wanted to do it again but at a greater scale, through the internet.

The challenge that Tony gives him at the end verifies what I've seen from other people. Instead of setting an arbitrary goal of X amount of money, it's much better to help X amount of people.

(Also, thanks for sharing the "complexity" post. Looks like it fits my kind of brain 😆)

the feeling is mutual!

Great article! I’ve seen these bro marketing guys online pushing through for years. You can feel the frequency of that and instantly my body knows that’s not peace. Yes they are strategic, intelligent and driven but this interview is proof that doesn’t equal abundance. I’ve created an empire of successful businesses through push. Yes I’m proud but I know there is more to it than just numbers. Not just in my head but my heart is pulling me toward something greater than me. And this is why I’m here in your world Phil. Thanks for sharing this 🤩

Thanks for sharing this here Nikki. I think there’s a time and place for every energy but it’s important to connect with the idea that only operating in push all the time is an incomplete map. And you are definitely in a moment of leaning more into the pull happy to have you in our world ❤️

This feels like such an honest naming of something many people sense but can’t quite articulate. The way we build quietly teaches our nervous system what work is allowed to feel like. Obligation trains strain. Care trains continuity. I especially appreciate the shift from grand missions to one real human being. Numbers measure progress, but they don’t carry us through the long middle. People do. Love your illustrations 🩷

😍 thanks and yes we are pretty proud of the illustrations!

Numbers don’t pull. They just measure. 👏 Another banger Phil.

It’s becoming unsettling how often I witness this happen. And what gets me the most is that it’s often people teaching strategy and growth, to 3-5 years later, come out and say how they were incredibly unhappy and are now burning down their business because there are more important things. Where does that leave everyone whom they effectively taught to pursue (potentially) the wrong things? It would be easier for me to count the people I know who haven’t followed this pattern.

I often wonder about that actually - if a lot of "growth oriented" mentors haven't really locked in on the thing they are most passionate about and would actually be growing something else of their own, but don't have that clarity. Not a judgment, more a curiosity. I know for myself - I enjoy the puzzle of growth, and since I've paired it with a different way of being that we try to cultivate in our community, it helped solve that equation for myself.

Awesome take. It explains so well why I never really could feel the guy… not that his content is not valuable - he‘s super generous in sharing amazing stuff. But I always missed something.

It was a really powerful interview and worth a watch. Tony is truly a master as well.

I was always wondering what's really happening in Alex's heads when watching his videos - his eyes kinda look sad or empty (lacking the better word to describe) when he talks. Now we can better understand why.

Loved how you made push vs. pull the main takeaway and theme of your letter Phil. Always reminds me of "choose love, not fear" quote, even though fear is helpful in certain scenarios.

Curious, how long did it take you to put this monster of an essay together?

Phil Powis ❤️⚡️'s avatar

Thanks Filip! I'll answer the short question before I run to a call lol - my newsletters on average take me about 2 hours to put together. Weekly essays, a bit less :)

I saw this interview the moment it dropped. It was very inspirational, and I plan on rewatching it again for the lessons. You did a great thing bringing Tony's example back into the everyday, and even offering tips to feel the "pull" even when in survival mode. I believe that, too. The people who perform, don't burn out, and feel fulfilled are all following this pull at different levels.

Phil Powis ❤️⚡️'s avatar

thanks @James Presbitero I think there is a way in which someone could watch that interview and say to themselves "yeah but that's not me, the same rules dont apply" and so my intention was to point out some ways a reader could apply the ideas without being at "Tony" or "Hormozi" status.
